Jeffrey Goldberg

Der Komponist und Musiker Jeffrey Goldberg studierte u.a. bei Luise Vosgerchian, Sarah Benson, Leonard Bernstein, und Joe Maneri. Seine Improvisationen hat er beim Palau de la Música Catalana, beim Darmstädter Festival für zeitgenossische Musik und beim Frankfurter Jazzkeller vorgestellt. Der vielseitiger Musiker engagiert sich in den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen: vom Klangheilen bis hin zu Crossover-Projekten. Für das Staatstheater Hannover schrieb er das Ballett „Marlene, or The Angel’s Blues“ und die Oper „Zurück vom Ring,“ die ein Wagnersche Libretto mit Klezmer und Rap verbindet.
Außerdem gibt er Workshops in Improvisation und Weltmusik und initiierte Improvisationskurse am New England Conservatory of Music. Dr. Goldberg lehrte auch an der Harvard University, der Boston Arts Academy sowie am Rivers School Conservatory. Als Pianist trat er u.a. mit dem Boston Symphony Orchestra und dem Boston Pops auf und arbeitete mit Yo-Yo Ma und Bobby McFerrin für den Film „Yo-Yo Ma at Tanglewood.“ Er war als Musikdirektor bei verschiedenen Theatern in Boston und New England engagiert und arbeitete als Repetitor und Dirigent an den Staatstheatern Darmstadt und Hannover. Seit 2009 ist als er Solorepetitor an der Oper Chemnitz tätig.

His improvisations have been featured at Palau de la Música Catalana, the Darmstadt Festival of Contemporary Music, and the Frankfurt Jazzkeller. The multifaceted musician celebrates diverse musical communities ranging from Sound Healing to Crossover projects. The Hannover Opera commissioned two compositions from him – the ballet, “Marlene, or The Angel’s Blues“, and the opera “Zurück vom Ring!“ – which set a Wagnerian libretto to Rap and Klezmer music.
He gives workshops in Improvisation and World Music, and he created a course in Improvisation at the New England Conservatory of Music. Dr. Goldberg has also served on the faculties of Harvard University, Boston Arts Academy, and the Rivers School Conservatory. As a pianist, he has appeared as soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops, and collabo-rated with Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin in the film “Yo-Yo Ma at Tanglewood.” He has served as music-director for several Boston and New England theatres, and worked as a vocal coach/conductor with the State Operas of Darmstadt and Hannover. Since 2009, he has be engaged as a solorepetitor at the Chemnitz Opera.
